For Today's blog I wanted to share my Business Story for anyone who is starting a Business or thinking of starting a business hopefully this will be helpful and inspire you to take the next step.
I decide to start my own business in January 2015. After graduating University with a Business Management degree i struggled to get a job, I ended up in dead end jobs and I was miserable. So I made the decision to start my own eBay store.
I have always had a creative side, painting, sewing, and really just making crafty things from what I had in my stash. So I Started making accessories and selling them on eBay, at the beginning it was slow and i wasn't getting a lot of sales, so I bought stock to sell to subsides my Handmade items. This gave me a chance to earn money that I could put back into my business.
It was hard going at first I worked 7 days a week doing everything I could to make my business work. I watched several You Tube videos looking for ways to do this and I put what I learned into action. I paid for sewing lesson so I could improve the quality of my work, which I still have now.
After about 6 months I started to see my hard work pay off, I was getting regular sales, repeat customers and I could see trend patters in my products what was more popular and what wasn't to popular which helped me to narrow my niche. I stopped purchasing accessories to sell and stocked only items I have made.
In October 2015, i decided to open an Etsy shop, things had been going so well on eBay I felt it was time to have a second sales platform. I'm still working on my Etsy shop but so far so good.
My advice to you if you are thinking of having a business or have a business and you believe in what you are selling then take the risk, it might not pay off but if you put the work in and learn from your mistakes you have a bigger chance of success. Setting up my own business was the best decision I have ever made I basically created my dream job.
I have had a business for a year now and I am still growing it, it's hard work but defiantly worth it. I will be posting some more blogs covering the topic of starting a business so stay tuned.
I hope this was helpful!
