Hi Everyone,

With Christmas fast approaching I thought for today's blog I would share how I make my Christmas Cinnamon Cookies. Perfect to make for a party, friends or even to bake with the kids. They are really simple, quick and easy to make, you can customise the recipe to make it your own.

120g Unsalted Butter
140g Brown Sugar
2 tbsp Honey
1 Medium Egg
100g Plain Flour
1/2 tsp Baking Powder
1-2 tsp Cinnamon
200g Porridge Oats
Makes 10 to 12 Cookies

I bought all my ingredients from Asda for under £10 and it will make 2 - 3 batches.

  • Pre-heat oven to 200°c/Gas Mark 6.
  • Mix: Softened Butter, Sugar and Honey - Whisk until fluffy.

  • Beat in the Egg, sift in the flour, baking powder and cinnamon.
  • Add the oats and mix.

  • Once combined roll out the cookies around 1.5 cm thick
  • Bake for 12 minutes and leave to cool before eating.
  • Cookies can be stored for up to 5 days in an air tight container.
  • You can add chocolate chips, nuts, replace the cinnamon with extra honey.

Let me know if you give them a try.

October Favourites 2015

Hi Everyone,

Its the beginning of November so I thought I would share my October favourites.

First up is hair products; I have really dry hair and I noticed it's been braking off at the ends so I purchased a new hair moisturiser.
Dark and Lovely Olive Oil Moisturiser for very dry or course hair.
I've been using this for over a month now and my hair is a lot softer and its not braking as much as it was. 250ml Bottle for £3, I bought mine from Tesco.

My Second hair favourite is the Argan Oil Heat Defence, I have used the Argan Oil Deep Conditioning Mask for 2 years and I love it so I thought I would give this a try.
This product works really well with my Oil Moisturiser, my hair feels smooth and less stray fly aways. 150ml spray bottle for £2, I bought mine from Body Care.

Skin Care

My two favourite skin care products this month have been Clarins Multi Active Serum and Clarins Eye Contour Balm. As the Weather has changed my skin tends to become drier, so I  have been using these two products in combination with my regular face cream and it has been working really well.

For nails this month I have been loving Cafe Au Lait by W7, I recently removed my acrylics so I have been working on getting my nails back in to a good condition, so I have been using this nude colour which has helped to make my nails look healthier than they really are.

In combination with this I have been using Pro Strong Nail Strengthener Treatment, its a four week treatment to achieve stronger nails I apply this twice a day over my nail polish, I have been using this for 2 weeks and my nails are improving. I will probably be doing a full review on this product when I have finished the next 2 weeks.

Lancome - Teint Visionnaire Foundation

As it's getting colder I like to change to my favourite Autumn/Winter foundation, Teint Visionnaire by Lancome. I love this foundation for this time of year it is moisturising  and I prefer the dewy natural finish as my skin looks fresher and healthier. I have been using this foundation in the winter months for a couple of years now, so I thought I would share with you what I like and what I don't like about it.

Pros: Good Coverage, Creamy and really smooth and easy to apply, I use a concealer brush to apply it. As it comes with the mirror on the lid it is really good for touch ups during the day.  The concealer is a shade lighter than the foundation, I usually buy my concealer a shade lighter than my foundation.

Con: The concealer creases on my skin so I have to put a layer of powder over the top to stop it from happening.

Pros: The foundation is medium to full coverage, and it has a really creamy texture. I apply it with a foundation brush and it gives a really nice natural finish. I am in the shade 05 it matches with my skin tone perfectly.

Cons: The only issue I have had with this foundation is it comes off if it touches my clothes, so I just add a setting powder over the top and then my bronzer.

I bought mine from Debenhams it retails for around £29.50.

Autumn 2015 - Make Up Look

Hi Everyone,

Last week I posted a blog showing my favourite Autumn lipsticks, here is a make-up look I  created using one of those lipsticks.

For my eyes I used Urban Decay's Primer Potion in Sin as a base and Perversion Liquid Liner. I filled my eyebrows in with MAC Brow Pencil in Stud and coated my lashes in Clarins Wonder Perfect Mascara in Black.

For eye shadow I used Clarins Pallet in Rosewood, I applied the darker pink shade to my lid and used the dark brown in my crease, for a highlighter I used an illamasqua nude shadow (the name has worn off).

For foundation I used Clarins Skin illusion in Chestnut, MAC blush in Sweet As Cocoa with Benefit Moon Beam over the top.

For my lips I used MAC Diva with YSL Golden Gloss 14 over the top.

Hi Everyone,

I recently baked one of my favourite treat scones. I thought I'd share with you how i did it and you can make them to. This recipe can be customised to how you like, you can add currants, chocolate chips or even some spices like cinnamon.

Pinch of Salt
50g Caster Sugar
50g Unsalted Butter
1 Medium Egg
100ml Buttermilk
1 Cutter (plain or fluted)

  • Heat oven to 220°c/ Gas Mark 7.
  • Sift the flour, salt and sugar in to a bowl.
  • Add the butter and coat it in the flour then rub the butter in to create a breadcrumb texture.

  • Beat the egg and the buttermilk together then add to the flour mix.
  • You can customise your scones at this stage.
  • Work the dough lightly then roll out to 3cm - 5 cm thick.

  • Cut out the scones using your cutter.
  • Bake in the over until golden brown, for 15 to 20 mins depending on your oven.

Bathroom Decor/Make-over

Hi Everyone,

In may 2015 we moved in to a new house and slowly we have been getting round to putting our own stamp on the place. We started with one of the smallest rooms in the house the main bathroom. I thought I would share what what we have done with it, we decided to go with a beach themed bathroom. There are still some finishing touches we need to do like buy a cabinet and a laundry basket but on the whole it looks less like an empty shell.

Before and After shots of the sink area.

We added an oak shelf above the sink, the mirror we had at our old house and we decided to keep it.

We got these hand soap, toothbrush holder and soap dish from The Range around£12 for all three.

Behind the door of the bathroom was a bear wall with just the radiator on it. We found this bunting at the range and it goes really well with the colour scheme.

£5.99 for the bunting, in the same section they had these beach hut hooks, they go over the back of the door, I use these to hook our towels up, £5.00.

The Lantern we picked up from a charity shop and the hook was made by my other half who sells them on his Etsy shop.  The rope jar is also from the range I sat it in the corner of my bath with a shell I picked up from a shop while on holiday.

My sewing room/office is next on my decorating list so I will blog it when its finished.
